General Liability

Office-Business-Window.jpeg

General liability, also known as “commercial liability insurance” is a broad commercial insurance policy that covers general liability exposures of a business, typically including products and completed operations coverage. We recommend that all businesses have general liability coverage in place.

At Martin Insurance Consultants, our knowlegeable staff provides a consultative approach to understanding your individual circumstances in order to help protect you and your business.  If you are looking to purchase business insurance, we know that you may have important questions, such as:

  • If I work out of my home, do I have to buy a business owners policy?

  • My tools in my truck are covered by my auto policy, right?

  • Is there any benefit to insuring my business auto with the same company that insures my business?

There are many facets to General Liability insurance including coverages, limits, and which insurance companies are the best fit for you. We work with you to devise the best possible strategy for your circumstances, then determine which of our companies provide the most competitive premiums.

We know and understand how important your business is, and the value of having it properly covered. A large settlement or having to defend against a lawsuit can be financially  devastating if you don’t have the right coverages and limits in your General Liability policy.

Whether you have a home office or several locations across the state, you need a business insurance program that is as unique as you are.  We provide different types of property, tools and equipment, auto, and liability policies tailored to fit your needs. We also know and understand how each of your policies work together to provide comprehensive protection.

Martin Insurance Consultants can explain what is and isn’t covered, in plain language so you can choose the best way to protect yourself and your business.  Call us today so we can begin helping you.

What other Liability Coverages might you need in addition to commercial liability insurance? Additional liability coverages that can be written in conjunction with a General Liability policy include:

Professional liability insurance (errors & omissions)

Errors & Omissions (E&O) covers professionals for negligence and errors or omissions that injure their clients. This type of insurance is particularly important to licensed professionals such as accountants, attorneys, insurance agents, architects, engineers and technology companies. Martin Insurance Consultants recommends that all professional and technology companies have E&O coverage.

Employment practices liability insurance (EPLI)

Employment Practices Liability Insurance for employers covers employment-related liabilities other than on-the-job injuries. This can include legal fees and damages for suits such as failure to hire, failure to promote, wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and other alleged violations of employees’ legal rights. If you have employees, Martin Insurance Consultants strongly recommends considering this type of coverage.

Directors and officers insurance (D&O)

D&O covers directors and officers of a company for wrongful acts or omissions that result in lawsuits against the company and/or its directors and officers. There is a variety of Directors and Officers policies available, for both For-Profit Organizations and Not-for-Profit organizations. Some D&O policies may be broadened to include coverage for employment practices liability as well.
